Hope Theory - A Brief Summary |
| What can help us keep moving toward a goal, even when the path isn't obvious?
Hope theory offers one answer. |
| |
Drawing on the work of Snyder and Lopez (2005), Campbell and van Nieuwerburgh (2018) summarise the key elements of hope theory: agency thinking - the intention, confidence and drive to pursue a goal - and pathways thinking - the ability to map out realistic routes to get there. This theory underpins Growth Coaching International’s GROWTH Framework, which encourages a clear, detailed picture of what's wanted (rather than dwelling on what isn't), identifying and affirming existing strengths and resources, pinpointing small steps towards the desired future, and regularly monitoring what's working, doing more of it, and changing course when it isn't. |

Growth Talk: Managing ‘Got a Minute?’ Conversations |
Conversation is at the heart of learning and leading.
This course explores a common leadership moment: the spontaneous “got a minute?” conversation. These unscheduled corridor chats or knocks on the door aren’t in your calendar and leave no time to prepare, yet they offer powerful opportunities to support thinking, progress, and learning in the moment.
Over a highly practical day participants will explore how to bring shape to impromptu other-initiated conversations; the key skills that fuel learning conversations; and how to show up in ways that best support the thinking and progress of our colleagues. |
