Growth Talk: Leader-Initiated Conversations

Conversation is at the heart of learning and leading.

In this course, we explore how to initiate and manage conversations that keep our schools moving with coherence. These “leader-initiated conversations” don’t only happen in formal one-to-one and team meetings. In fact, many of the conversations through which leaders lead happen in informal settings and brief periods of time as they juggle the many demands of the job. When initiated and led with intention these conversations present opportunities to maintain progress, affirm strengths, and nudge and stretch practice.

Internationally recognised expert on instructional coaching and best-selling author Dr Jim Knight said of the Growth Talk book:

This course will bring to life the concepts and frameworks presented in Growth Talk, as we explore the skills and techniques that help manage leader-initiated conversations.

About Growth Talk: Leader-Initiated Conversations

Over a highly practical and interactive day, we will explore: how to bring shape to less-formal leader-initiated conversations; the key skills that fuel learning conversations; and how to show up in ways that best support the thinking and progress of our colleagues. Drawing on a range of immediately implementable strategies, you will learn how to bring a coaching approach to a range of conversational contexts that would not be deemed formal coaching situations.

You will leave the course with the skills and confidence to begin to adopt a coaching way of leading and in turn foster a culture of growth in your educational setting – one conversation at a time. 

Participants will receive a copy of Growth Talk at the first workshop they attend.
